Tip: Have you ever considered that active listening involves an exchange of air?
Often we have a habit of silence when listening. While that is great for technical information, when a speaker is expressing emotion, silence is not the best option to express the warmth you really feel and also have that felt by others.
Exercise: When you are next listening to friends or work colleagues on the phone try using sounds like "Oooo" and "Aaaaah" and phrases like "heavens!" in between their words.
It sounds really childish and if you don't normally do it, you will feel like an idiot. But at the very least you will recognise if you are holding your breath or finding it hard to breathe out when listening, which may be something on which to ponder!
Recognise the 'promise; that it is possible to release trapped energy in ways that promote creative transformation and change and create more integrated relations among individuals, groups, organisations, and their environment' (Abram 1996).

The mentoring breakfasts have been an enormous success. The process has proven perfect for each individual to get a diagnosis, practice and get feedback from others in what is a financially viable way to really improve performance. These sessions are 100% interactive. We will tell you what no one else will about your presence and find ways to help you transform before your eyes.
There are also two VOICE workshops coming up in Melbourne and Sydney, both in the city this time. I like to think of these sessions as cognitive neuro-psychology in application, or the connection between mind-body and voice in action. The Sydney one is almost completely booked already, so let me know if you would like to come.
The Brisbane day will be a truly unique and spectacular event. Please have a look at the innovative work that is happening on this day and check out the work of Timothy Gartside who is a world-leader in leading organisations to view themselves and their organisation in new and stimulating ways.
