I’ve taken the plunge and had a video created for my website. I’d held off for quite awhile. I’m not a fan of videos for a number of reasons:
- I don’t like those that start as soon as you visit a site.
- I don’t like how-to sites that only produce videos and not text instructions as well (I prefer to read ahead to what I want to know, rather than wait for that bit on the video).
- And so many I’ve seen are ‘off-the-cuff’ and not very professional at all (usually web cam).
- The cost seemed quite exorbitant for those in small business to get a professional video created.
However, it seems the stats indicate that video definitely works, when it comes to marketing. Facebook tells us that video is well received and I see how much they are shared via that medium. And YouTube is a top search engine these days and a driver to websites via the videos listed.
While visiting a BNI chapter a few weeks ago, substituting for a colleague, the videographer in that chapter was presenting about his business and spoke of a special he had on that week. Both his presentation and his special caught my attention. I decided to contact him to find out more information and discovered he had a ‘system’ for creating professional videos that helped keep the costs down for his clients. I liked what I saw and decided to give it a try.
Since that time I’ve come across two other videographers who also produce videos for small business at a great rate. Seems small business has become a focus for the video industry and that’s probably a good thing. I have plans for more videos further down the track and will let you know how I progress. In the meantime, you might like to see the first one produced – it’s on the front of my website. However, here it is for you to view.
