Today, on our forum at ‘Virtual Assistants International Group’, a member shared some challenges she was having in getting her business off the ground. This wasn’t a rare comment, we’ve had others say similar before; they’ve come to seek help.
What was really special, and important, is the way the community rallied round to support and encourage this new VA during her time of feeling fragile and unsure.
That’s what I love about our industry. The way everyone gets together to encourage, support and motivate their peers. I know of no other industry like it although I’m sure there probably are.
I love how many VAs, who have only been in business a short time themselves, step up to help others newer than they. There is something about being able to help others that helps you as well. It is as though it moves you along the road of experience – just being able to share experiences you’ve already had.
I loved watching the conversation as it unfolded and so many shared something of their lives with others on that list. It makes me proud to be a member of this industry and know that there are always many available to help, whether they’ve been involved just a few months or several years.

Hiya Kathie!
I’m often amazed at the warmth, insight and support I see in VAIG and now can’t imagine my day without it.
We all have our personal and professional challenges and down days, and as I read the heartfelt emails by all the ladies in VAIG I was truly touched at how sincere and compassionate they were. Such a contrast to the corporate world where it’s usually survival of the fittest and dog eat dog.
I’m sure I speak for all when I say your forum goes way beyond simply exchanging ideas and tips, it’s a REAL community. Big congrats on establishing such a fantastic and worthwhile group!

Hi Kathie,
I too was impressed by the comments and support that was flowing through the thread yesterday! What an inspiration all of the ladies are, the challenges they face, and still taking steps. I myself feel reassured that if I need someone to bounce or vent feelings off, I have a forum and such a supportive group at the touch of my fingertips. I agree with Alex when she states what a wonderful job you have done to create such a caring community!
Thanks again.
Debra 🙂

Of course we have guys on the list as well, but in this case, the focus was very much women supporting other women and yes, it is great to see how the community rallies round one or more who are hurting and anxious. So special.

I agree with Alex and Debra, as I am glad that I joined a very lovable community. If we need help and need someone to talk to , that had similar experience to you life , it makes it muc easier to understand why many venture out to become a VA. Once again thank you Kathie for Creating A Claytons Secretary and making it a great community for all VA’s. Thanks to all VA’s that have help me.

I appreciate the way the forum is a lively mix of work, education, help, cartoons, puns and moral support–that’s what makes it so special! Thank you for allowing the personality of the group shine.
