I have guest poster Ben Johnson sharing on the importance of the type of logo for your business. Your logo really is the proverbial "calling card" for your business. A potential customer or client will make that all important first impression many times based on the appearance, style and design of your business logo. Understanding the importance of your business logo, you may be wondering what you actually should have, what you should include within the design of that logo. Through this … [Read more...]
Two industry leaders together
Just thought I'd quickly share with you a photo of myself and Sharon Williams at FoVA09 together. Sharon and I've known each other for many years but up till this week had never met face-to-face so it was a joy to meet her and have my photo taken with her. She and I, and other industry leaders, will be on a discussion panel this morning at the event, before my husband and I head off to Vancouver to join a tour and enjoy a holiday. I've been limited for time online so will report more later … [Read more...]
FoVA 2009
It is the evening of 2nd June in Canada and tonight my husband and I met for the first time, some VAs from the US and Canada. Barb Lang, founder of FoVA, coordinated this 2nd annual event and tonight the first comers got together for dinner at Vinnies. Below is a photo of the group but I can't remember everyone's names so I'll have to tag them all later. It is exciting to meet face-to-face some names I've known online for sometime and have a chat with them over a meal - the best way to bond … [Read more...]
My first view of Niagara Falls
Graham and I wandered around Niagara Falls today and I saw my first view of the Falls and also a squirrel. We had a wonderful time, lovely weather and I took over 300 photos (no surprise there). You can view some of the photos by clicking on the image below. … [Read more...]
Interview with Craig Cannings
You have seen several interviews of clients who use Virtual Assistants. This interview is about a man who saw a way to work with Virtual Assistants and assist them in their workplace training. Please tell my readers a bit about who you are and what you do. My name is Craig Cannings and I have had the privilege of working virtually as a Internet Marketing Consultant, Blogger and Entrepreneur since 2003. I actually have three young daughters who have never known their Dad to work "outside" the … [Read more...]
The Miriam Rose
Some of my VA Team have provided their love and support to myself and my family over the past few months, since the loss of our daughter Miriam. The ways they have shown this have blown both my husband and I away and they have been so kind. I had been told sometime ago there was still one more gift to come and it arrived about a week ago. It was live and had been in quarantine and I couldn't even imagine what it could be. But I soon discovered it to be a rose bush and it is a Floribunda Rose … [Read more...]
Women’s health and VA work
One of the members of our VA forum was doing research for a client on women's health issues in the mid-life years and asked for suggestions to be added to the list she'd compiled. Many came back with additional problems and then discussions took place on how old or young each feel and various problems different ones had. One member gave advice to the younger ones about the importance of keeping active. As I read it I was reminded of my grandmother, whom I adored. My grandmother passed away … [Read more...]
Virtual Assistant or Employee?
There are other adjectives I can think of but I won't use them here. I saw a post advertising for a Female Virtual Assistant/Content Writer that says, and I quote: You'll be writing about 3-4 250-350 articles per hour based on the keywords I will specify. I am going to expect you work full time (only for me and not anyone else) (my emphasis) You have to have experience in article writing. Amongst other things. The 'virtual assistant' had to be living in the Phillipines too. I left a comment … [Read more...]
Checked your spam filter lately?
I was concerned recently when I received several emails from a lady who had registered for my VA Trainer course but hadn't heard from me. I had responded to every single email she had sent me but still her emails kept coming, upset that I'd not responded. This concerned me a great deal. There was no other contact information with her emails and she'd just signed off with her name. I looked up her phone and fax number from the form she'd filled out and tried to ring and fax her - with no … [Read more...]
