I’m amazed by the amount of ‘VA’ spammers out there, who are desperate to get their comments posted on this blog. Regular spam is bad enough but VAs doing this? Your flattery and use of big words will not impress me, nor the html coding you leave in the comments either.
However, if you add value to the article and simply leave your name and URL in the relevant fields, your comments will get published and people can visit your site if they wish.
Spamming on a peer’s site is not the way to get yourself good attention. It will just serve to have you added to the spam list managed by Akistmet or any of the other spam filter programs used by bloggers.

Oh I’m so with you on this Kathie! Comment spam is hugely annoying at the best of times but when it’s people who should know better? Ugh….
I wonder if they actually think through the consequences for themselves and their business, and how it’s devaluing them completely.

Kathie, I always learn so much from you. Thank you!
This weekend I’ll be setting up a new WordPress website and blog so I will finally join the blogging ranks, yes I’m very slow at getting there. However I was surprised at your need to write this post, I can’t even imagine doing such a thing once again I’m a bit smarter doing about these spammers.
I appreciate the knowing there are tools to help manage this to some degree.

I hear ya Kathie! I regulate comments for someone’s blog & find it a time waster and annoying to see these ‘comments’ come through having html code in them, trying to piggy back someone’s hard work in developing a popular bog to link back to their site. Isn’t there some sort of insects that carry on this way in nature … ah, yes! parasites!
Kathie Thomas says
Grace, you’ll find Akismet already built into WordPress but there are others you can use too. I like that if you click on spam for a comment it is reported to Akisment and after 2 or 3 times it is just automatically handled as spam. Not good for the person who persists because it means their comments on any WordPress blog also gets listed as spam. Not a good reputation to have.
And yes, Claire, definitely parasites. Got the same happening on the AVAC site. Very annoying.

I agree with you 100%!
I have all of my comments set to moderation and lately have gotten a TON of spam.
I was not aware that when I click “spam” in my WordPress that Akismet is adding it to a list to protect other bloggers from the same spammer too. Thanks for that info!
