I sent the following information to my clients recently and thought that my readers might also benefit from the information. Things to think about for your business at the beginning of a new year.
Website(s) – does it need updating, changing, or anything else done to it? Are your contact details current on the site?
Blog(s) – how often are you writing articles and posting, or do you need my assistance with this? If you have a blog it should be written to regularly, at least 2-4 times a month, but more is better. Search engines love blogs and as it’s fresh content, the search engines will keep refreshing your listing.
Facebook – not to be ignored these days and being used for business by many. It’s a great way of building up a ‘fanbase’. I can create or update your Facebook business page – not to be confused with your Faceook profile. One can be kept for business and the other for personal connections (family, friends, etc). Your blog can be linked to it (as can Twitter) so that it’s updated regularly but you do need to visit it daily, or a few times a week, to see if anyone’s left a message for you, for you to respond to. Asking questions on your Facebook page is a good way to develop interaction with your fans.
LinkedIn – have you uploaded your contacts list from Outlook or your database and sent invites to all you know? Again, this is a tool not to be overlooked and worth keeping up to date. There are a lot of very active discussion groups on LinkedIn and it’s a great way of getting people to know about your products and services. I sent out an email over the Christmas/New Year break asking if people knew I was a photographer too and I have had so many replies and comments – a good way just to keep in touch with your LinkedIn connections.
Database – how current is yours? Does it need cleaning out, updating/adding to? Do you have a pile of business cards on your desk or in a drawer that needs entering? What program are you using? Or aren’t you?
Google Adwords – have you considered using this service to promote your product or service? I have clients successfully using this tool for their business and I can help set this up for you and maintain it at a low monthly fee.
Cards – do you have birthday cards, anniversary cards, thank you cards or even promotional postcards you want to organise? Maintaining regular contact with your client/database is most important and cards are a great way to do it. I can assist with this and show you how to use the system I use, or I can do it for you.
If any of these things, or perhaps something else you’ve thought of, need doing, then please get in touch so I can help you get started.
AustralianVAConference – we (the Virtual Assistant industry) have our 2nd annual conference in March in Melbourne and we’re seeking sponsors. If you are interested or know someone who might be, please let them know. The link for the site is in my signature block below.
I hope you had a great Christmas/New Year break and I look forward to hearing back from you.
