Further to my recent post about the Top 100 Aussie Blogs list, The Age (Melbourne Newspaper) has an article out today – page 9 I’m told, but it’s also available online about Aussie bloggers. Worth checking out the links they have attached to the article.

I wonder if this means Australia is now regarded as ‘coming of age’ with blogging? What got me about the article was their reference about ‘an unusually strong overseas readership’ in reference to one of the blogs. I wonder what that is supposed to mean? The nature of blogs is that they do attract a global readership. Why should any blog be restricted to only the country they’re written in? I wonder if the journalist needs to do some blog surfing and experience more?
At any rate, it was good to see the article and link to the top bloggers. The A-list that Duncan Riley put together in March 2006 has certainly grown and I’m pleased to see a number of women on the list now!
Given the interest in Australian bloggers now, if there are some in Melbourne who would like to get together for a chat and coffee, please do contact me so we can organise it. I know there’s a group meeting periodically in Sydney. Would be nice to do the same here. KMT

Addendum: Thanks to Meg’s comment I am told is a place to ‘meetup‘ on the web for Melbourne based bloggers. In fact for bloggers in lots of areas so why not come over and explore? The link will lead you to Melbourne but if you’re elsewhere you can explore the site for your location.
