Several members of my VA team are experiencing problems with the webhost they’ve been using and their websites and email have been down for several days now. This is a real problem for anyone who runs their business online. In fact when I research this particular company online there are a heap of warning messages on forums about them currently. A shame because from what I can gather they’ve had a real problem with their hardware and are trying to get things back up and running again.
I have been with the service that our hosting is provided through for over 7 years now and have been very happy with the service. Like every business we have occasional hiccups but the guys on the backend of the server are usually on the ball and attend to things quickly. That is why I feel confident in providing you a web hosting service also.
If you know someone who is experiencing web hosting challenges at the moment and cannot access their website or email, then please do encourage them to make contact with me at ACSWebservices. As long as they have access to their domain name and can make the relevant changes to point the DNS elsewhere I can have them back up in a few short hours – usually on the same day.
web hosting problems, website down, domain services

That’s something worth thinking about. As James Brausch always says, you should not have a single point of failure in your business. You should always have backup systems in place. It would be good to have a backup hosting company ready to go.
Wayne Hall says
Janet,
Are you referring to Brausch’s Freedom Business System? I believe he recommends a combination of automation and virtual assistants to run an online business. And, of course, backup systems in place where ever possible. The final goal is for the business to run itself with no little or no input from the owner.

Hey guys, this post was about web hosting and now we’re talking about Freedom Business System? Perhaps we should add in Michael Gerber’s E-Myth book as well?
Yes, VAs can assist in the running of a business and backup systems are important – including having some kind of plan if your web hosting suddenly goes off air.
But as far as the owner having little or no input to their business I feel is a mistake – the quickest way of losing ownership is by not being involved. The business owner still needs to be involved but they might not need to do the day-to-day admin which is what the VA can do for them – free them up so they can do what they (the business owner) does best in their own business.
Wayne Hall says
Kathie,
You bring up a good point about possibly losing control with too little involvement from the business owner. Somewhere between the extremes of total outsourcing and working 16 hour days lies the answer. And that’s a place each business owner will need to find for them self.

Thanks Wayne – I agree. As a business owner there are days that I want to myself too – without the business taking over. And I have successfully built a business where I do have non-client contact time and have a team of VAs who support my clients when I need back up, and so on. Even VAs need VAs! 🙂
